Well eBay sales have slowed a little this week. Everyone is probably feeling the pinch and waiting for pay day, but it hasn’t ground to a halt, sales are still ticking over which is good or I’d have nothing to blog about! I’ve been running some promotions which seem to be bringing in some customers so I’ll continue to do that for the rest of the month. Here’s my selection of 7 eBay sales this week for you.
Item: Rocket Dog Flat Shoes
Paid: £3 (charity shop)
I’d heard of the Rocket Dog brand from some other resellers so when I saw these I thought I’d give them a go. They have been listed for about 6 months so they probably weren’t the most sought after shoes in that brand but they still sold for a good profit and went off on the GSP to Dublin. Incidentally I’ve noticed that when I pick up things that other resellers say they’ve done well with, they don’t do so well for me so the moral of the story is to look for things that work for you and not just things that work for others.

Item: ASOS Blue & White Dress
Paid: £4 (charity shop)
I haven’t picked up anything from ASOS before but I couldn’t resist this dress. I thought the hot air balloon print was beautiful and someone else thought so too … it was listed less than 24 hours when I got an offer of £14. I counter-offered with £16 and they came back with £15 which I accepted. Maybe I could have declined and waited for the full price but we resellers are also feeling the pinch this month so I decided to accept. Money back into the stock-buying pot is always good.

Item: Joe Browns Jumper Dress

I love picking up Joe Browns dresses, they usually sell pretty quick and for a decent profit. I haven’t seen one like this before, I thought it was quite unusual. I’ve had this one a while though … probably because it was more of a winter dress and obviously the weather has turned colder recently. Plus I added it to my January Sales promotion so that probably helped too. January seems to be a good month for selling clothes.

Item: Jazz Musician Figures
Paid: £1.67
I’ve mentioned these figures in a previous eBay sales post. Hubby picked up three sets at a car boot sale … a reggae set, an orchestra set and these ones, for a total cost of £5 (so I’ve divided that figure by 3 to get my ‘paid’ price.) These ones were the last to sell. I’d definitely pick them up again. Made me feel like I was back in New Orleans 🙂

Item: M&S Batwing Top
Paid: £3.49 (Marks & Spencer Sale)
This top was one of a few items I bought in the M&S sale last year so it was brand new with tags. I’ve included it in this week’s eBay sales post because I wanted to point out how important good photos are … this one is TERRIBLE! It’s a batwing style top and my photos just don’t do it justice at all, plus the colour looks awful. A good example of me being lazy. I was going to do the photographs again and probably raise the price a little bit but then it sold. I still made a profit but maybe I could have got more with better photos. A good lesson for future photography sessions.

Item: Fisher Price Castle
Paid: £7 (Facebook Marketplace)
I bought one of these castles at a car boot sale last summer with the full intention of listing it on eBay. However … my grandson spotted it and spent a good hour playing with it so I didn’t have the heart to sell it. It’s now one of his favourite toys at Grandma and Granda’s house. I knew they went for decent money so when I spotted one on Facebook Marketplace for £7 I snapped it up. I thought it would have sold before xmas but hey ho … things never sell when you think they will. The customer was very happy with it and even commented on how well it was packaged (shout out to hubby here). The castle is from 1994 so it’s probably classed as a vintage toy and I noticed a lot of the listings for it on eBay included the word ‘rare’. As I’ve picked up two in the last six months and there are a few listed on eBay I don’t really think it’s that rare?!

Item: 3000 Piece Jigsaw
Paid: £2.99 (charity shop)
I always pick up jigsaws if they have an interesting picture and are £3 or less. This one was quite a large jigsaw with 3000 pieces so you’d need a pretty big surface to do it on so maybe that put a lot of buyers off. I’ve had it listed for about 6 months and I think I originally started it at £29.99. I reduced it to £24.99 but then after no interest I included it in my January Sale. I thought I had p&p on top of this but for some reason I’d put free shipping (which I normally don’t). Lots of lessons to learn this month!

Although I’m a reseller and buy stock from car boot sales & charity shops, I still occasionally have a clear out of my wardrobe and cupboards and sell my own stuff. If you’re looking to make some extra cash then eBay is a great place to start … dig out all your unwanted items and get them listed. Every little helps as they say. Hi Helen – yes I got it from eBay, think I paid about £20. If you’re going to sell clothes I’d say a mannequin is an absolute must, it makes life so much easier!
