7 eBay Sales This Week #13

eBay sales have gathered some momentum this week!  I think a lot of people get paid on 15th of the month.  We’ve sold some things that have been around a while and some things have sold really quickly … which is always nice 🙂  We also did a car boot sale this weekend to get rid of some stuff that has been sitting in my stock room for over 12 months (not included in this sales report).  I could have just held onto them but I wanted to clear some space for new stock … otherwise I may need to build an extra room!  But we did sell a few things and now I need to decide what to do with the stuff we brought back … put it back into stock at a very reduced price or just donate it to a charity shop?  I’ll let you know.  But in the meantime here’s 7 random eBay sales we’ve shipped out in the last week.

Item:  Disney Trivial Pursuit: The Animated Picture Edition

Paid:  £2.50 (charity shop)

It was Buy One Get One Free on toys and games last week in one of our local charity shops so I picked up this and a Buzz Lightyear Story Teller thing (I haven’t researched it properly yet), so cost me £4.99 in total.  I usually pick up Disney stuff as a lot of it is collectable and sells for a good price and this was one of the better items.  When I researched it I was surprised to see it selling for over £20 but apparently it’s a ‘rare’ game.  I’m always a bit dubious when I see that as it’s splashed around on a lot of things that aren’t rare.  But this had only been listed three days when it sold for the full price, so maybe it was rare.  I’ll definitely be on the look out for it again.

Sold:  £24.99 + £3.99 p&p

Profit after eBay & PayPal fees:  £18.17

Item:  3 Kodak Black Ink Printer Cartridges

Paid:  Well this is an interesting story lol …

We always look at the clearance shelves in supermarkets and we spotted these in Tesco last year.  They had been reduced to £2.50 from £9 so I thought there would probably be some profit in them.  We took them to the till along with some food shopping we’d done and paid the bill.  I thought the bill seemed a little high so I checked the receipt before we left the shop.  We’d been charged full price for the ink cartridges.  So off to the customer service desk we went.  Turns out Tesco have a ‘double the difference’ policy when they charge you the wrong price.  If they charge you too much for an item they give you double the difference back!  So as they difference was £6.50 and we’d bought three of them we got £19.50 cash back, which meant we were £12.50 in profit before I even listed them on eBay.  How good was that!!

Sold:  £14.99 + £2.95 p&p

Profit after eBay & PayPal fees:  £5.76 … but with our ‘double the difference’ money back the profit was actually £17.70.

Item:  Set of 3 Flying Brass Swallows

Paid:  Came in an auction box of brass items for £11 the whole box

I usually visit the auction house before auction day to have a look at what they’ve got listed so I can check what the things I’m interested in really look like, but the week I bought these I hadn’t been to look.  I was watching the auction online and lots were going for really low prices … more than usual.  This auction was just before xmas so maybe there wasn’t many bidding but this lot of brass items had a bid of £6.  I just couldn’t resist bidding £8 … I mean come on, there’s got to be profit in a box of brass items for £8.  And I won it.  With auction fees the box came to £11.  There wasn’t great stuff in it but definitely worth buying.  I was very, very surprised when I researched these birds and found that they were getting between £20 and £30 in eBay auctions, with lots of people bidding on them.  So I put them on auction, starting at £9.99 and they got 8 bids.  Definitely a BOLO (be on the look out).

Sold:  £26.57 + £4 p&p

Profit after eBay & PayPal fees:  £12.24

Item:  Brass Mouse Candle Snuffer

Paid:  £0

This came in the box of brass I mentioned above so I’ve taken the total cost from the selling price of the brass birds which means I really paid nothing for it.  It was a lovely little item and I didn’t have it up for sale long (only a week) before someone else thought it was lovely too and bought it.  I still have about 10 items from this brass lot listed so I’ll keep you posted if and when they sell.

Sold:  £9.99 + £2.95 p&p

Profit after eBay & PayPal fees:  £4.83

Item:  Ted Baker Men’s Cardigan

Paid:  £3 (charity shop)

I worry sometimes when I pick up designer clothes as I’ve been stung before with them being fakes but this one looked good to me.  I’ve had it listed for about 6 months.  I don’t think it was the nicest colour but still, somebody liked it.  They’ve left me feedback already that they loved it so I’m happy.

Sold:  £26.99 + £3.25 p&p

Profit after eBay & PayPal fees:  £19.59

Item:  Silentnight Simply Cool Mattress Protector

Paid:  £6 (Tesco)

I bought 3 of these in the middle of the really hot spell we had last summer and they went very quick, so when I spotted seven more of them a couple of weeks later I snapped them up.  For some reason they didn’t sell as quickly as the previous ones and they’ve been listed for about 5 months.  So it was nice to see one sell even in this cold weather.  I think they’re supposed to keep you cooler than the ordinary mattress toppers so I’m actually tempted to put ‘menopause’ in the listing … well it’s always too hot for me through the night, whatever the time of year!

Sold:  £19.99 + £2.95 p&p

Profit after eBay & PayPal fees:  £10.42

Item:  Sylvester & Tweetie Pie

Paid:  £3.50 (charity shop)

I couldn’t resist Sylvester when I saw him.  He was quite large so I stood him on my staircase landing (instead of taking up space in my stock room) and I’d gotten quite used to seeing him there.  I didn’t buy Tweetie Pie at the same time but when I saw him I thought it would be good for them to be together.  Like some other things that sold this week I’ve had him quite a while and I was a little sorry to see him go.  But I’m a reseller so he had to go to his new home in Italy.

Sold:  £16.99 + £6.50 p&p

Profit after eBay & PayPal fees:  £9.96

It’s been a canny week for sales (canny means good … if you’re wondering lol).  And I’ve cleared lots of space in my stock room ready for when the car boot season starts … I can’t wait 🙂  Remember if you want to ask any questions about reselling on eBay just pop them in the comments below.
