It’s been a few weeks since I’ve done a 7 Ebay Sales post, my routine of writing them slipped a bit! Christmas on Ebay is really kicking in now, you can tell by the things people are buying … lots of toys, games and gifts. Shame it’s the time of year when car boot sales have died off though … but I suppose that just makes us a little more creative about where we source stock from 🙂 Here’s my 7 random Ebay sales from the last week.
Item: Ultimate Bath Spa
Paid: £5 (car boot sale)
I’ve sold one of these bath spa’s before so when I spotted another one I thought I’d pick it up. £5 was probably a little more than I would like to pay but I knew there was profit in it. Sourcing stock is sometimes a bit like ‘silver car syndrome’ – when you buy one you seem to see more of them. I found another one at another car boot sale a week later (also for £5). They’re not quick sellers, probably had them four or five months but they were both ‘like new’ in the box complete with instructions and both of them sold in the same week, possibly Christmas gifts.
Sold: £14.99 + £4.25 p&p

Item: Electronic Travel Boggle
Paid: £1 (car boot sale)
These are always worth picking up as they’re pretty quick sellers, especially at this time of year. They take batteries so if you can’t test them before buying there’s always a chance they won’t work but at £1 or less it’s worth a shot. Luckily the ones I’ve picked up have always worked. This went on the GSP to Australia.

Item: A Game of Thrones The Board Game
Paid: 50p (car boot sale)
This was hubby’s pickup and we couldn’t believe he got it for 50p! It was practically new inside. With games like this that have lots of pieces you always take a chance that it won’t be complete, but as with the Boggle if you can get them cheap enough it’s worth taking a chance. This one was complete, even had the instructions with it. I decided to put this on a 7 day auction as sold prices were all over the place. I started it at £12.99 (which was the price hubby said he was happy to sell it for). Auctions are always more exciting than Buy It Now but it can be a gamble. Happily this one paid off.

Item: Disney Gerald the Sealion
Paid: £5 (charity shop)
This soft toy was a total surprise and a definite BOLO (be on the look out). Hubby spotted him in the charity shop window and we didn’t know who he was. Apparently he’s from Finding Dory. He had the official Disney stamp and they’re usually worth something so we had a quick look at Completed & Sold listings on Ebay and found that he was going for quite a lot of money so we snapped him up. He was listed for probably six months and I originally had him on for £59.99. He kept getting two or three watchers each cycle but no buyers so I reduced the price and decided to use the new Ebay Promoted Listings feature. You only pay the promotion fee (about 6%) if the item sells and it boosts visibility by up to 40%. It was definitely worth it as Gerald sold within a week of promoting him.

Item: Tramp-it Jump Boots
Paid: £5 (car boot sale)
I’ve sold a few pairs of these so I always jump on them when I see them – see what I did there 🙂 I think they’re given as presents, used a couple of times and then sit gathering dust until they end up at the car boot sale, as they’re always in really good condition when I buy them. They come in three different sizes (small, medium & large) and each size is adaptable to fit 2 to 3 sizes of foot. They need an allen key to change the size. Ones I’ve sold in the past have always had the key but these ones didn’t, which I stated in the listing, so I wasn’t sure if they would sell. They didn’t even make it to my stock room as they sold within 24 hours of me listing them!

Item: Next Dress
Paid: £1 (charity shop)
I’ve included this dress because I’ve had it for about two years. I’m not sure why it took so long to sell, it was in great condition, had a nice print and was a decent size (14). Maybe it was the wrapover top, my photos or my keywords just weren’t getting it out there. But it eventually did sell and I’m happy to see it go.

Item: Disney Stitch Soft Toy
Paid: £2 (car boot sale)
This is the second Stitch I’ve sold this year. This soft toy also surprised me as I hadn’t really heard of Lilo & Stitch, but again some research showed that he was worth picking up. I think my grandson and I may have to watch the film. I don’t stock many soft toys as they’re a bit hit and miss but ones with the Disney stamp seem to be popular.
