Product Review: Skinny Tan Tan & Tone Oil

I’m not a person who likes to sunbathe.  To be honest I don’t tan very well, I usually just burn so always apply a high factor sun cream.  Of course this means that I never have a sun tan and usually look very pale.  I think my daughter felt I needed a bit of colour because she offered to lend me her bottle of Skinny Tan Tan & Tone Oil recently.  So I gave it a try and I’m so pleased I did and am happy to share the results.

How to apply Skinny Tan Tan & Tone Oil

The box says to exfoliate the skin and then spray the oil directly onto skin, blending using your hands.   It advises to either use latex gloves or to wash your hands immediately after use.  Then you leave it to dry and dress and go.

I didn’t exfoliate first as I was in a hurry and I decided to just use my bare hands and sprayed the oil into my palm first.  Then I applied it to my arms, legs, chest and face the same way I apply moisturiser, making sure all my skin was covered.  The Oil smells like coconut and feels silky smooth on your skin.  I didn’t moisturise before applying the Oil and it really didn’t feel like I needed it.

The Skinny Tan Tan & Tone Oil didn’t take long to dry at all, maybe 5 minutes.  The product doesn’t come off on your clothes at all and I remembered to wash my hands straight after applying so my palms didn’t have that ‘just self-tanned’ look.

I noticed a difference after about an hour – just a subtle glow.  I’d been a bit wary about putting it on my face as it’s not easy to hide a disaster on your face if it goes horribly wrong!  But my daughter called in 2-3 hours after I’d apply the Oil, she didn’t know I’d just used the product but she commented on how nice my skin was looking.

The box says that it takes 8 hours for the tan to completely develop.  These are the before and after photos after 24 hours – I took them in the same place and at the same time of day to try and get the same light effective.  (Sorry I look so scary!)

skinny tan tan & tone oil

This is the first time I’ve ever used a fake tanning product and I have to say I was really very impressed with the results.  The Oil covered very evenly so I wasn’t left with any streaks and my ‘tan’ looked natural and healthy, not orange or patchy and my skin feels lovely and soft.

Pros

  • It’s paraben-free, not tested on animals and suitable for vegans
  • It’s not too expensive.  £16 for 145ml.  Normally I would just use it on my arms, decolletage and face (I’m always in trousers), so it will do quite a few applications.
  • Love the coconut smell
  • Feels smooth & silky on my skin
  • Doesn’t come off on the sheets or my clothes
  • Gave me a nice healthy golden glow
  • It’s been a week since I applied and my tan is showing no signs of fading yet.

Cons

  • The product doesn’t contain a sun screen so doesn’t protect against sunburn

I honestly can’t think of any other cons for this product.  I loved this fake tan product.

I gave my daughter her bottle of Skinny Tan Tan & Tone Oil back and was very kindly given my own bottle as a birthday present.  Thank you!

If you’ve used this product let me know if you loved it or hated it.
