As a Type 2 diabetic I’ve been following a low carb lifestyle to try and lose weight and get my bood sugar under control. During this time I’ve occasionally missed snacky type things. I say occasionally because when you’re eating low carb you don’t really get cravings for crisps and chocolate … which is good. And really you shouldn’t eat inbetween meals when you have Type 2 diabetes as the more times you eat through the day the more you raise your blood sugar. But as I need to do this for the rest of my life I need to find ways to make it easier on myself. So snacks are going to be a feature … especially when me and the hubby are watching a film and he’s got crisps and chocolate! When I googled low carb snacks, the KraveKit Keto Snacks Box came up so I thought I’d give it a try.
What is the KraveKit keto snack box?
The KraveKit Keto Snack Box is a monthly subscription box (you can get subscription boxes for everything these days!). There are three options to choose from: the Keto Snack Box, the Meat Free version and the Pork Free version. So something to suit most diets. Each box has a minimum of 10 products which include sweet & savoury snacks, condiments and drinks.
A subscription costs £27 + shipping per month. All the products are gluten free, maltitol free (sugar alcohol used as a sugar substitute) and below 5 carbs per serving. If you sign up before the 5th of the month you’ll receive your first box after the 15th of that month. If it’s after the 5th then you won’t receive it until the following month. When you sign up for the KraveKit keto snacks subscription box you aren’t tied into any long-term committments, you can skip boxes or cancel your subscription at any time.
What I got in my first box
This all sounded good to me so I signed up to receive the Meat Free KraveKit Keto Snack Box. £27 did seem quite expensive for 10 snacks but I was willing to give it a try as I really want my low carb lifestyle to work. I also thought it would give me a taster of different products that maybe I could buy again. I’ve found supermarkets don’t really stock a great range of low carb/keto snacks so it would be useful to explore other sources.

My first box arrived well packed and included the promised 10 products plus a leaflet detailing the contents of the box. There was also discount codes for some of the products should I want to buy them via their respective websites.
The box contained the following products:
Fount Drinks Cleanse & Detox Drops (worth £12)
This contains ginger & lemon with dandelion, selenium, vitamin B complex and vitamin C. You add 2 or 3 drops to a glass of water and it’s supposed to cleanse & detox your body. There are 25 servings in the bottle. I have to say I was a little disappointed with this. KraveKit is supposed to be a ‘snack’ box and this certainly isn’t a snack. It tastes ok but I’ve had no obvious benefits from it as yet.
Almond & Vanilla Fattbar Cookie (worth £1.85)
A good sized cookie made with ground almonds, butter and sweet vanilla. This did taste good, although it was more a ‘cake’ texture than a cookie, and was satisfying. Probably just as well there’s only one in the packet as it would be too easy to eat more than one at a time.
Grandma Crunch Coconut Cereal (worth £6.70)
This cereal came in a good sized 285g box and was really tasty. These high protein, plant based, crunchy balls of cereal coated in coconut are good mixed with yoghurt for breakfast or eaten on their own as a snack. The crunchy texture of the cereal is very satisfying with 15g of protein and only 5g of carbs per 30g serving. It also comes in Cinnamon flavour. I haven’t seen this in any supermarket and you would need to buy a pack of at least two via their website. It’s quite pricey for a cereal but it lasted quite a while and it tasted good.

Nick’s Go Nuts Milk Chocolate Bar
I couldn’t find this available anywhere online so I’m not sure how much this was worth. It was a nuts & seeds bar with a little chocolate through it and was quite nice.
Protein Crisps (worth £1.59)
A nice enough packet of cheese & onion crisps (although a fairly small packet), but unfortunately their website seems to have disappeared.
The Keto Baker Mug Bread (worth £1.99)
As it says on the packet this is a keto bread you make in a mug and only takes a couple of minutes. I didn’t hold out much hope for this as I haven’t had much luck with keto/low carb bread, and even though it doesn’t look very appetising it tasted good. I sliced it and topped it with veggie bacon, lettuce and tomato and really enjoyed it. It’s definitely not bread but I would recommend trying it.

Wallaroo Coconut Chips (worth £1.29)
Thick cut coconut chips that have been toasted. The leaflet recommends you bake the chips with a little salt & vinegar and add them to a salad. I haven’t tried that yet but they do sound tasty.
Raw Gorilla Chok Bar (worth £1.99)
The packet says this is a smooth and zesty orange cocoa bar. I’m not a fan of really dark chocolate and unfortunately this didn’t change my opinion. I didn’t like it. However if you do like dark chocolate you can definitely taste the orange so don’t let my opinion stop you!
Oloves (worth 80p)
A very nice 30g pack of lemon & rosemary olives.
Nutty Nibbles (worth £1)
A lovely little jar of 3 apricot chia seed balls. They were delicious and I would definitely buy them again. Plus I kept the glass jar to reuse.
Would I get the KraveKit Subscription Box again?
As I really liked most of the products in the KraveKit Keto Snacks Box I did keep my subscription and got a second box. This included a jar of Dr Wills Avocado Mayonnaise which was very good and I’ve recently found it in Tesco so bought a second jar of it.

The second box wasn’t quite as good as the first for me. It included a can of peach vodka soda (which was ok but I don’t drink alcohol much) and a pack of ITSU seaweed thins (which I didn’t like). But I guess a lot of people would like those items.
I still think the box is quite expensive and if you’re buying it to find new keto snacks to repurchase then the individual products are a bit on the pricey side. However if you’re following a keto or low carb diet then it’s definitely worth trying the box as you do get a good range of things which means you have a variety of snacks to help you stick to your keto/low carb plan throughout the month.
If you’re signing up to the KraveKit Keto Snack Box for the first time you get 10% off your first box.
If you’ve tried any good low carb / keto snacks I’d love to hear about them in the comments below 🙂

Great idea for a box – I haven’t seen one like this yet. Boxes with cosmetics are the most popular here.
