The Makeup Revolution beauty brand seems to be everywhere lately. Bloggers young and old seem to be buying their products and of course I had to jump on board! I’ve got 6 of their eyeshadow palettes and use them on a regular basis. Many of their makeup products have made it into my everyday makeup routine. The Revolution Forever Flawless Chilled with Cannabis Sativa eyeshadow palette was a must-have when I saw it and on the whole I wasn’t disappointed. Here’s my Makeup Revolution eyeshadow palette review of this beautiful green and brown eyeshadow collection.
Is Revolution Cruelty Free?
I always try to only buy makeup and skincare that is cruelty free … not always the easiest thing to do. So I was very happy to find that Makeup Revolution is cruelty free, certified by PETA and does not sell in countries where animal testing is a legal requirement. Good to know as Makeup Revolution does a fantastic range of makeup and skincare. Incidentally the Chilled palette is also vegan friendly.
The Packaging
This Makeup Revolution eyeshadow palette review gets off to a good start with the beautiful eye-catching packaging. The Chilled palette comes in a tin case with some colourful leaves as the print, and inside includes a handy mirror almost the full size of the lid which I always think is very welcome, especially if you’re going to take it on holiday. Sitting in the base of the tin are 18 good size shadow pans of stunning green and warm browns including matte shades and shimmer shades. The palette is slim and easy to stack with my other Revolution palettes. And I love the shade names … very cheeky 🙂
The Shades in the Chilled Palette
These 18 beautiful shades include earthy toned mattes, shimmers and pressed glitter powders. I found the shimmers really easy to use, they went on very smoothly and blended well with an eyeshadow primer and without. As did the mattes. On my first time using these colours I was a little heavy-handed and ended up looking like I should be in Drag Race! Some of the darker colours have great pigmentation. So after that I took a light hand when dipping the eyeshadow brush into the colours. The glitters are a little trickier to apply and work best with a damp brush but you do get a bit of fall-out from them. But there are certainly plenty of options for different looks with the Revolution Chilled palette. Use the lighter colours for a more natural daytime look or add the darker pops of color with the shimmery shades for that time of year when a bit of glitter in your makeup look is key (can’t wait to try Hybrid, the silver shimmer). My favorite shade is Candy Land … such a pretty colour, and the warm brown shimmers make this a beautiful palette. The gold Acapulco shade is perfect for giving the inner corner of the eyelid that brightening pop of color while Plant or Burn would give the outer corner that smokey eye definition.
Forever Flawless Chilled Eyeshadow Palette Swatches
I have quite a fair skin tone and the colours swatched quite well on my arm as you can see below. I always feel it’s good to include colour swatches in an Eyeshadow Palette Review. You’ll note the glitter shadows don’t swatch very well but you’d pat them onto your eyelid rather than drag them as I did on my arm. The shadows are infused with cannabis sativa seed oil which is cold-pressed from hemp seeds. This oil is well known for it’s powerful hydrating properties and abdundant antioxidants … vital for older women.
How much is the Chilled Eyeshadow Palette
I always think the Revolution makeup collection is really good value for money. At the very reasonable price point of £12 for 18 different shades this makeup revolution palette is packed full of value, having the perfect mix of greens and browns.
Makeup Revolution Eyeshadow Palette Review Verdict
My final thoughts are that personally I’d keep the glitter shadows for special occasions like a xmas party, using them with the dark smokey shades would be stunning. My current favorites are Candy Land and Exhale … they’re just beautiful. I never thought I could make use of green palettes but this great drugstore palette has such a good shade range it proved me wrong. I can’t wait to try even more of the makeup revolution brand products … maybe a nude lipstick to complete my look.
I definitely recommend this versatile palette to anyone who fancies trying a green eyeshadow. Especially women over 50 … don’t be afraid to give it a go and give yourself a pop of stunning colour.
