Do you find it hard to keep your kids entertained during the summer holidays? I know my 3 year old grand-daughter likes to be constantly occupied doing something! They can be quite lively at that age and sometimes it’s nice to get them to have a little quiet play time so they can recharge and not get too boisterous. We bought her a pack of playing cards a while ago which have zoo animals on them, they can be used to learn the different animal names or to play match the pairs but the cards are a bit big for little hands. So when I came across this Let’s Play Matching Pairs, seaside themed, pack of playing cards I thought we’d give them a try.
The pack, designed and printed by Aura Print, contains 40 colourful cards small enough to be held easily by little hands. There are 20 different seaside themed objects pictured and the idea is for your child to match the pairs. For Harriet (3 years old) I laid out one of each card and gave her the rest of the pack. She then had to place the matching card on top of the right picture. The objects on the cards are very easy for small children to recognise. They include ice cream, bucket & spade, crab, boat, seagull, camera, sunglasses and ice lolly to name a few. We went through the cards before she started playing and I got her to name each object. She actually struggled a little with the camera card as I guess children are now used to seeing their parents take photos with a phone rather than a real camera. My 5 year old grandson, Ashton, did say he didn’t want to play but when he saw Harriet playing he had to get involved and enjoyed helping her find the pairs.

The cards themselves are really good quality with a smooth finish. Great for small children to play with as they won’t get damaged easily. And the pack is small enough to take away with you on holiday. Just pop it in your handbag or even your pocket. In fact my grandchildren (Harriet’s brother Ashton is 5) are looking forward to a caravan holiday by the sea this month so this lovely little card game will be perfect for them to take away with them. My daughter can even take the cards down to the beach when they go and they can have fun spotting each of the items on the cards.

I was very impressed by the quality of the Aura Print playing cards and browsing their website I see they also do lots of bespoke items for adults and businesses. One of the items being poker cards which you can get custom made with your own design on them. Children aren’t the only ones who like to play card games. I’m sure my son and his friends would love some packs of custom made poker cards for their child-free poker nights!
